Interesting facts about men & sex toys
Is it weird to buy a sex toy?
Let’s face it: sex toys have been around for centuries already. In fact, it’s quite possible that they are one of the oldest “hobbies” to be in existence. However, even back then, no one spoke about them. There is no real historical evidence pointing to many sex toys or speaking of their widespread usage. All we have is “passed down stories” from generation to generation, which leads us to believe that even back then it was a stigma to own such a device. And, that line of thought is consistent with today.
We always hear that, despite its well-known popularity, sex toys like the Fleshlight are considered a shame to own. But let’s step back and analyze this a bit more. Is it indeed so weird to own a sex toy, especially when more than half the population has one (both male and female)?
On the surface, it seems like it is bizarre. Go on any social media website or forum, and you will see an overwhelming amount of negative posts about owning a sex toy. Even women, where it is considered more acceptable than men – they post about how weird it must be to have a vibrator. Similarly, if you were to ask anyone on the street, the answer would likely be that it is, in fact, weird to own one.
But, on the other side of things, we see sex toy companies blowing up in size. Their growth is astronomical year after year. Take for example the Fleshlight Company – a male sex toy product. They claim to have sold over 5 million (yes – MILLION) of these devices to the public worldwide, and this is one of the thousands of sex toys on the market. Additionally, there have been reports that the global sex toy market is worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
The above leads us to believe that most people do in fact own a sex toy but they don’t like speaking about it, as they consider it taboo.
Fundamentally speaking, it is not weird to own a sex toy in real life, but in theory, it is. Many won’t willingly admit to owning a sex toy. We need to change our mindset as it is what ancestors thought hundreds of years ago. The world has changed, and sex toys have become accepted. It is understandable that sex is a private matter to many people, and that is okay. But, when it comes to it being “weird” to owning a sex toy? The answer is a resounding no!

This Woman’s Sex Toys are Pointless
So, recently I came across a rather interesting story online. You’re actually not going to believe this, but it is in fact true. It’s from the trendy UK news website “The Mirror.” The subject? A woman with over 4,000 GBP worth of sex toys! But wait, it gets crazier! She can’t even use them!
Catherine Cullen is a 22-year-old UK based model with an insane amount of sex toys – a total of 26 vibrators and 12 dildos, in addition to over 60 lingerie sets…all of which are worth over 4,000 GBP. How they were that expensive is another story. I’m just trying to stay focused on the story so let’s move forward.
Ms. Cullen apparently cannot use these sex toys because she has a particular medical condition (called endometriosis) that leaves her in severe pain every time she uses them. This condition is basically when the womb lining is located outside of the womb. Pretty fun stuff as you can see.
This begs the question: if she had a condition that left her like this, why in the world would she buy them when she cannot even use them?! It doesn’t make sense, yeah?
Well, on the surface, it certainly does not make sense. However, if you think about it, it starts to make a lot of sense actually. Ms. Cullen wants to lead a normal life. When she realized that she had this condition and cannot have sex or use sex toys, it made her miserable. And, what do many women do when they are miserable? Yes, some go on a binge eating competition, but others do “retail therapy.” She went out and bought everything and every sex toy to make herself “feel good” (when she couldn’t “feel good” physically).
Look, I can’t knock her for that. But still, buying THAT many sex toys? That’s insane. Even the most addicted sex toy user will tell you that. The first rule of sex toy purchasing is to set a budget, especially if you enjoy them very much. Otherwise, it’s like an addiction. As funny as that sounds, it’s true. You need to create a budget for your sex toys; otherwise, you could be in big trouble.
Now, there is some happy ending to this story. It has been reported that Ms. Cullen is on heavy antibiotics to numb the pain. She can now have sex in peace and comfort. However, she is still afraid to use sex toys. She fears that it will not be like sex and will end up hurting her, which is such a sad story because sex toys do enhance intercourse between you and your partner.
I hope that Ms. Cullen makes a full recovery from this soon.

Live in Canada? You Probably Bought a Sex Toy
Did you know that the sex toy industry is slated to be worth over USD 50 BILLION by 2020? Crazy, right? Naturally, much of those sales will come from right here – the United States of America. Men and women happen to be equal when it comes to percentage breakdown of sex toys by gender, and this is also the case worldwide. We see close to a 50-50% split between men and women. But, not all countries are the same.
As mentioned above, the USA is a large purchaser of sex toys. But, did you know that Canada, a country with a total population of fewer than 40 million people, is ranked in the top five nations of sex toy purchases?
While you may not think twice about it, this is, in fact, a huge deal. Consider the fact that China, Russia, and India are all at least eight times as big as Canada. Canada out-purchases all of them in the sex toy category. And, it’s not like sex toys are banned in these countries as is the case in other countries (namely in the Middle East).
What’s more eye-popping is the fact that men typically spend more on sex toys than women do. However, this may be because male sex toys are generally more expensive than women’s sex toys. A vibrator, for example, can go for as little as $20 (and perhaps even cheaper depending on the quality women are choosing). On the other hand, men don’t have that type of luxury. Most male sex toys start at USD 40 and go all the way up to well over USD 100.
Men (particularly Canadian men) are finding ways to spend their money on these sex toys. PinkCherry is a famous Canadian sex toy shop online, and they are utterly destroying it in the sales department. And, if trends are any prediction, Canada should continue to rise in the ranks of “per capita” spending regarding sex toys. THAT is the craziest part of this entire thing. Perhaps if you are a Canadian citizen, it is time to start thinking about opening your own sex shop online. It’s ridiculously good money!
But in all seriousness, Canada- wow! What can we say, eh? It looks like the world has something to learn from you after all!
